Embera Wera

EMBERA WERA

Meeting the Embera Women in the Heart of the Darién Rainforest

A rare adventure for small groups of women in Panama.

A Human Encounter Above All

For many years, Corinne Bally has developed close relationships with the Embera communities of Panama and with the women artisans who create traditional shamanic masks.

Through numerous journeys, shared experiences, and time spent in the rainforest, a relationship based on trust, exchange, and mutual respect has grown around this unique art form, cultural heritage, and the transmission of ancestral knowledge.

EMBERA WERA was born from this story.

Far more than a journey, it is a human and cultural immersion into the heart of the Darién, where Corinne shares her deep knowledge of the region and her personal experience with the Embera communities.

A Small-Group Experience

This journey is designed for a maximum of 6 to 8 women.

The intention is to create a space that encourages:

  • meaningful encounters,
  • listening and learning,
  • sharing,
  • discovery,
  • and a deeply authentic experience.

Each participant is invited to embrace the rhythm of the place, discover the daily lives of Embera women, and gain insight into ancestral skills passed down through generations.

In the Heart of the Darién

Part of the journey takes place in the Darién rainforest, one of Panama’s most remote and preserved regions.

Participants will discover and share:

  • the authentic way of life of the Embera people,
  • the work of women artisans,
  • the creation of traditional masks,
  • natural dyeing techniques,
  • and the stories and symbolism connected to shamanic traditions.

Life in the rainforest is intentionally simple and immersive. Depending on the level of immersion desired, some nights may be spent:

  • in basic accommodations with running water and electricity,
  • or directly within the village, sleeping in a hammock without modern comforts, for a complete immersion experience.

A Different Way to Travel

EMBERA WERA is not a conventional tour.

It is a human adventure designed for women who are curious, open-minded, and sensitive to art, cultural transmission, genuine encounters, and transformative experiences.

The pace of the journey also allows time for:

  • rest,
  • reflection and integration,
  • group exchanges,
  • and gentler moments before and after the rainforest immersion.
